Things not to do in Quarantine

Coronavirus quarantine concept. working from home. man sitting on ...

As the world has come to a stand still, it's a great time to set a reset button in our lives and introspect things we have been missing out on. It's the best time to spend with your family, loved ones to binge the show you always wanted to or just sleep for that matter. Now that most of us are in isolation, it’s easy to think something is a good idea when it’s really not, or to fall into poor habits, or to forget to do certain things to stay happy and healthy.

Here's listing down few that you should definitely not do during quarantine.

1. Don't buy things in bulk

It's definitely hard times at the moment. As you can't really guess when things will be back to normal. This is the best time to understand the difference between your needs and wants. Why do we need to buy so much stuff we don't really need right now? It's a confusing moment for the consumers. And the best way to deal with it is not to stuff your pantry with  things in bulk.

2. Don't spend your whole day scrolling through news

It’s hard to avoid the news and social media, especially when you have to stay at home all day and have nothing much to do. It's important to keep up to date about the recent happening, but staying glued to the news channels for hours will only make you stressed out. To avoid feeling overwhelmed by the endless corona virus content, try to set aside a designated time for the updates. You can still stay informed without reading about it all day.

3.Don't stay in your room for too long

As mentioned it's a great time to spend with your family, helping them in the household stuffs, and just being productive in general. Don't just lock yourself up in your room the whole day. It's definitely not practical for a change of scenery and go out for a walk. You need to keep moving mentally and physically as much as possible.

4. Don’t isolate yourself from your friends.

Social distancing doesn’t mean you can’t do anything with your friends. There are tons of options online- from playing games, talking on skype, zoom etc. You can recommend each other shows or movies that you have been binging onJust drop a text to check in how they're doing.

5. Stop overeating

The most common problem we are facing right now is overeating. We need to stop binge eating all the crap stuff. It's not easy when you are at home all day to keep a check as its natural human tendency. Just keep a balance and follow your usual diet which you were earlier following. Anything extra now or then is fine but just don't go overboard with it.

6. Don’t be too hard on yourself and others

We need to understand there is no single right way to get through quarantine. You may have created a schedule for yourself initially on how much time you are gonna give to your personal and professional life, which may have gone haywire since then. It's natural we cant stick to it in these times, adjustments will be required in this period, we can't expect everything to work out the right way for us or for others. We need to take things easy and go with the flow.

7. Don’t sleep all day.

We always had wished for the days when we can sleep all day. You don’t need to have a rigid schedule for each day, but try not to fall victim to the other end of the spectrum and stay in bed all day. Even if your day isn't much productive don't waste it by lying on your bed the whole time.

8.  Don't make Sex a habit

If you're in quarantine with your partner it's definitely a great time to spice up or just experiment with your sex life. It will help you reduce anxiety, it will be fun, helpful and a great way to understand your partner much better . Now that doesn't mean you are only focused on it. The best way to boost your sex life is to give it a breather, try understanding each other and take it easy.

9. Don't avoid Workout

No matter what your goals were pre quarantine- weight loss or muscle gain it has definitely come to a stand still. You need to relax it’s not the end of the world, once things come back to normal you can go back to your goals. Home workouts can easily become stale after a while that doesnt mean you need to stop working out at all. Even a 30 mins workout is fine, you dont need to burn yourself out.

10. Don’t forget to take a breather

It’s important to practice self-care, especially when everything seems to induce stress and fear. It's the best time to retrospect your life decisions. When things start to get overwhelming, be kind to yourself and take breaks. Try new things to see what makes you calm. Treat yourself a little in healthy ways. Again, it’s all about finding what works for you, because coping with quarantine looks different for everybody. And during quarantine it may look a little different from usual, It’s all about keeping a balance!
