It
doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an expert, keeping track of
your workout and diet is extremely beneficial. It helps you organize and save information about your exercise
and meals routine so you can work towards it efficiently. It helps in analysing your fitness levels by
planning your programme sensibly.
Here are
few points to know why it’s important to keep a track of your progress:
1. It clears confusion: You have many doubts initially
when you try a new fitness programme. Am I getting enough calories as per my
requirement in a day? Am I putting that extra effort in the gym? Am I actually
on the right path? By tracking you can clear those basic doubts which come in
handy as you progress.
2. You can rectify errors: You may have noted on some days you feel
like a beast and on other days you are a lifeless soul. If you are keeping a
track you can see the difference how you act on particular days. It could be
lack of sleep, poor diet or basic physical activity. It also helps you rectify
if you are eating something wrong which your body isn’t accepting, you can
immediately eliminate it from your diet. It’s like a feedback your body gives
you to correct your mistakes.
3. You experience the change: Your body needs to
be constantly challenged in order to adapt. You need to always change your
workouts and add or eliminate certain things from your diet. If you don’t keep
a track and don’t maintain a log you won’t have any idea what was the status of
your body on Day1 in comparison to Day10. By keeping a track of your progress
you can actually see the change.
4. You’ll have a clear picture about your goal: Setting an
ambitious goal for your body is great, but don't set unrealistic goals. Make
sure you can actually achieve what you're setting out to do. Otherwise, you
will get frustrated and will quit. The fitness journey is flexible. You
learn something new about your body each day and you need to adapt to the
changing circumstances. Keeping a track and making notes about your progress
helps you craft better goals and helps you achieve them.
5. It adds value: Tracking brings a big difference
to your approach. Your workouts and diet means something to you rather than it
being a trial procedure. If you’re constantly keeping track of what you eat, taking
measurements, and tracking your workouts, you will always be thinking “healthy”
and thus make healthier decisions on a more consistent basis.
There are
tons of apps and fitness trackers which make it easier for us to keep track for
all this stuffs, you can even write it down in a diary which can help you chase down your fitness goals efficiently. On top of that, it gives you motivation to put that extra effort. And if you track your body changes properly, you’ll realize that you are making
far more significant and healthier progress by doing things the right way.
